Vidushi & Guru Late Smt. Rohini Bhate taught & trained Manjiri, through personalized special guidance and she feels extremely fortunate to be blessed with such a guru. Rohiniji, an institution in herself, became a life-long inspiration for her. Manjiri performed as a lead dancer in Rohiniji's compositions & productions.

For over six decades Guru Dr. Rohini Bhate focussed her energies on Kathak, an Indian Classical dance style of North India. Groomed in the art by the Late Guru Lacchhu Maharaj and Late Guru Mohanrao Kalyanpurkar, she evolved a unique & rich style of her own. Guru Rohiniji's multifaceted scholarly interests allowed her to cull the best from oral traditions of India. Her study of music complements her literary creations, giving a novel repertoire of Kathak items.

In her avatars as writer, translator, orator, theoretician, teacher and dancer, Guru Rohini Bhate embodied a harmonious blend of high classicism with contemporary expression, truly a synergistic celebration of performing arts. With her understanding of structure & aesthetics of Talas, her flair for adaptations of oral traditions and her analytical & innovative approach to Abhinaya, Guru Rohini Bhate enriched the Kathak repertoire creating a large corpus of dance compositions: Traditional & Contemporary.

Guru Pt. Suresh Talwalkar

Taalyogi Pandit Suresh Talwalkar, is one of the greatest Tabla exponents of the present times. As an accomplished artist and as a Guru, he has contributed immensely to the glorious tradition of Indian Classical Music. Pandit Sureshji belongs to the illustrious “Keertankar” family of Shri Dholebuva.

His unending quest for creativity and innovation, makes him a distinguished composer. His CDs like “Taal Yatra” or “Laya Kalpana” and the group concerts like “Taal Mala” and “Taal Yatra” can be cited best for the same. His compositions have influenced not only the musicians from India but also from the Western countries and today, many jazz composers seek his guidance in their musical journey. He has actively taught and guided many a Indian Classical Dancers, fine tuning and blending in an exalted sense of "Taal" and "Laya" in their renderings.

Sureshji believes that, “Guru Shishya Parampara” is the soul of Indian classical music and he is an ardent follower of the same. As a guru, his teaching abilities and expertise is unmatched.

Manjiri was introduced to Kathak at an early age and she embraced it quite naturally, to become one with it, over the years. She is firmly committed and entirely devoted to its cause with a single-minded pursuit. Her capabilities were identified & groomed by Rohiniji, resulting in her being an excellent stage performer.

Manjiri is now one of the most prominent kathak artists of the present generation in India, she is entirely devoted to the cause of her dance form. Her performances reflect unique & harmonious synthesis of finest nuances of different styles of Kathak and her dance carries subtlety & elegance of Lucknow style with strong element of “Abhinaya", along with vigour & flamboyance of Jaipur style. She is currently based at Jaipur.

She firmly believes in the fact that when a dream becomes a desire, it ultimately becomes a delight. The ideas presented through her dance performances, always depict an aspiring and thought-provoking philosophy. Renowned people from the field of dance and media have always appreciated her performances. Her teaching methodology and compositions have also been well received.
